Not every sim is born to be astronaut, scientist or secret agent, so i’ve made this custom career which is “pretty normal” job-wise, but still a lovable and fun career, that can fit well into many storytelling gameplays.

It’s an 11 level (sorry, i just couldn’t leave that one thing out of it ;D) rabbithole career, salary set on the low end of maxis standards. Main skills are Gardening and Gourmet Cooking, with “excursions” into other skills, to provide a bit of variety while advancing the career. Get To Work is required to play this career mod, as well as the Neia_Careers_Commons.package which is included in the zip file.

The career was created with Neias Create-A-Career tool BETA, so no job outfits, daily tasks, or rewards.

Career Details:
Sims start out as Market Hand at a daily farmer’s market, and later can choose between branches Deli Foods Dealer or Market Management.
The skill requirements i chose are reflecting the knowledge about the different wares they’re selling, how and where they’re grown or produced.

Market Vendor:
The hustle and bustle of the daily farmer’s market, custormers haggling or chatting, enjoying the colors and scents of countless fresh groceries, or drinking a fair-trade coffee at the barista-stall – this place is a center of local life, like markets were since the medieval times, and diligent employees are always welcome.

Level 1: Market Hand 13$/h
As market hand you carry lots of crates back and forth and see to it that the market stalls are in stock. At the end of each day your palms are sweaty, your knees are weak, and your arms are heavy, but you quit going to the gym.already.

Level 2: Tasting Tray Carrier 18$/h
The tasting trays are not as heavy as the crates, but sometimes you feel uncomfortable asking anyone who’s passing by if they want a taste sample. At least you never go hungry, and there’s some really good stuff you get to try.

Level 3: Flower Seller 25$/h
The colors and mixed scents of all the cut flowers you sell at the stall make you happy, even when skys are gray. Sometimes there are bees, luckily, you can always distract them with one of the Guzmania Pollenis flowers.

Level 4: Organic Vegetable Vendor 32$/h
Buying pure, dew sprinkled freshness is what most people come for at the farmer’s market. The superfood trend lately has some customers ask for odd stuff, but you just forward it to the purchasing agent and get it for the next day, because a happy customer is a loyal customer.

Level 5: Baked Goods Vendor 39$/h
The goods you sell are like you, a crisp crust and a soft crumb, absolutely organic and GMO free. But unlike the spelt flour bread and whole wheat muffins you sell, no one seems as eager to get their hands on to you.

Level 6: Handicrafts Merchant 46$/h
Every farmer’s market has one of those stalls full of all that hand made baskets, jugs, potpourris, small rustic paintings and other plunder people tend to clutter their homes with. Most of the time business is lax, and you get to read a lot.

Deli Foods Dealer:
Ah, the wonderful world of deli foods and gourmet cooking, rare ingredients like truffles and caviar. Only the best merchants attract the attention of VIPs and star cooks as their customers, as not only the finest wares, but also the friendliest service is critical.

Level 7: Exotic Fruits Seller 53$/h
From salvadoradian avocados to shang simlan dragonfruit, your stall is the place to come to, if you want to buy a little vacation-feeling or want to make an extraordinairy dessert. Quality has a price, that people seemingly are willing to pay.

Level 8: Seafood Vendor 60$/h
Under the sea… there live a lot of tasty creatures to be cooked, especially with garlic butter. From prawns and clams, octopus and salmon, to lobster and tuna. Everything you sell has sushi quality, and the pirate jokes you know seem to attract a lot of buyers.

Level 9: Smoked Foods Trader 81$/h
Salting and smoking meat is one of the oldest ways to preserve it. You sell all kinds of smoked ham and sausages from all over the world. Some juicy and mild, some hard as rock and very hearty, you find the right one for every customers taste.

Level 10: Gourmet Cheese Dealer 90$/h
You really have to be a connoisseur to enjoy the odor of some of those cheeses, let alone the taste. Maybe that’s why they pay you a fair amount of money to work here. Well, and maybe you’ll have the opportunity to cheese that circumstance to your advantage.

Level 11: Nectar Merchant 99$/h
Selling nectar is the royal discipline of merchants. Knowing the nectarys, the grapes, and if they’re from Champs les Sims or Sunset Valley, and that’s not where it stops, knowing which wine goes with which dish is expected, also not getting too tipsy.

Market Manager:
Behind every successful farmer’s market, there is a long row of well oiled machinery. Most of the wares come from regional farms and companies, some have to be imported from other countries, especially regarding deli foods. Food safety has to be kept, orders to be made in time, new suppliers and shipping service providers aquired. Idlers won’t stay long in this kind of job.

Level 7: Market Overseer 55$/h
Someone needs to keep order in terms of what goes where, when new wares are delivered in the early morning, how much space each vendor gets in the market, and that no rubbish clutters the area, to give customers a good shopping experience. And now that’s you.

Level 8: Hygiene Inspector 62$/h
Hygiene inspectors are the most feared persons on a market. They have the power to instantly close a stall, if the food safety regulations are not followed. And they know every nook and cranny where dirt and grease might hide.

Level 9: Purchasing Agent 84$/h
You’re doing the magic to keep the whole farmer’s market stocked on supplies, your contacts to suppliers and shipping companys stretch all over the world. Sometimes you get strange requests from one of the new vegetable vendors, but the superfoods stuff seems to sell.

Level 10: Quality Manager 93$/h
As your title tells, you look to it that no cheap or old products find their way into your storage and stalls, as the market has a good reputation to lose. That requires that you know a lot about every product that the market is selling, so there’s some fun to the hard work.

Level 11: Market Manager 104$/h
You keep all the threads running together. Seeing that everybody does his job, but also that no one stands alone when problems occur. You also organize special events at the farmer’s market to entertain the customers – because a happy customer is a loyal customer.
