Nurturing Trait Mod

Nurturing Trait Mod

Nurturing Trait: Nurturing sims are naturally inclined to take care of others. These kind and generous sims understand what others need and are most happy when surrounded by children or animals. This trait is located in the Lifestyle category.

Quick Notes:
1. There are two versions of this trait, the 8 hour version and the 24 hour version. These refer to the length of the Drained Buff, which is described below. Only download ONE of the versions for your game.

2. I am still fairly new to modding and creating traits so please let me know if you run into any problems or if anything isn’t working the way it should be.

Compatibility:
This trait requires both the Parenthood and Cats and Dogs packs to work properly. That said, I do have all of the expansions and stuff packs in my game, so when I tested this trait it was with all of the packs included. This trait was created and is working with patch 1.63.

What does it do?
This trait uses a combination of proximity buffs and occasional events, as well as whims to interact with children and animals. Nurturing sims will build parenting, veterinarian, and pet training skills 2x faster, and will gain performance 2x faster in the baby sitting and education careers. Child and toddler sims will gain skills 2x faster when around a nurturing sim, and toddler, child, and teen sims will gain positive character values 2x as fast when around a nurturing sim. Nurturing sims will also gain friendship more quickly when around toddlers, children, and teens.

This trait is available for Teens, Young Adults, Adults, and Elders.

Buffs:
1. Caretaker: {0.SimFirstName} just loves getting to spend time with children. From their squishy cheeks to their tiny toes, they are just so cute! Even teenagers can be fun to be around…well, most of the time anyway.
Sims will receive this +2 happy buff when around any babies, toddlers, children, or teens. While this buff is active they will gain friendship more quickly and their parenting skill with be boosted by 2.

2. Animal Whisperer: Is there anything sweeter than a little kitten or puppy? {0.SimFirstName} certainly doesn’t think so! They could happily spend all day caring and playing for these fluffy little babies!
Sims will receive this +2 happy buff when around cats or dogs. While this buff is active they will gain friendship with animals more quickly and their pet training skill will be boosted by 2.

3. Drained: {0.SimFirstName} is feeling drained from taking care of others. It’s time for a little self-care and relaxation!
Sims will randomly receive this buff every few days. While this buff is active, all benefits from Caretaker, Animal Whisperer, Feeling Nurtured, and At Ease buffs are cancelled out.
– 8 Hour Version: in this version of the trait, nurturing sims will gain a +3 Tense buff for 8 hours.
– 24 Hour Version: in this version of the trait, nurturing sims will gain a +5 Tense buff for 24 hours. (This is the version I use because it has a larger impact on gameplay)

4. Can’t Stand Them!: {0.SimFirstName} isn’t sure what it is, but something about this sim is really rubbing them the wrong way.
Sims will receive this +3 Tense buff when around any sims that have the Evil, Hates Children, or Mean traits.

5. Can’t Connect: No matter what they try, {0.SimFirstName} just can’t seem to connect with this sim. What happened? It’s like they can’t stand to be in the same room anymore! If only they could go back to how they used to be.
Sims will receive this +3 Sad buff when around teen sims with the Distant, Mean Streak, or Rebellious traits. While this buff is active all benefits from Caretaker, Feeling Nurtured, and At Ease buffs are cancelled out.

6. Feeling Nurtured: {0.SimFirstName} will have boosted skill and positive character value gain while around a nurturing sim. *Hidden Buff*
Toddler, child, and teen sims will get this hidden buff when around a nurturing sim with the Caretaker buff. This buff boosts toddler/child skill gain and positive character value gain by 2x.

7. At Ease: Just being around this sim makes {0.SimFirstName} feel relaxed and cared for.
Toddler, child, and teen sims will get this +2 Happy buff when around a nurturing sim with the Caretaker buff.
